Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

Torv (“the Service”) is operated by Torv LLC (“Torv,” “we,” “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to use the Service. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

2. Not Financial Advice

Torv is a financial-planning and tax-projection tool. Its outputs are educational projections based on the information you enter and simplified modeling assumptions — not individualized financial, tax, or investment advice, and they may be incomplete or wrong for your situation. Confirm with a qualified professional before acting on any irreversible decision, such as a Roth conversion, withdrawal, or Social Security claiming choice.

Torv LLC is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, certified public accountant, or tax preparer, and we are not your fiduciary. We do not recommend specific securities, manage or take custody of your assets, or execute transactions. Using the Service does not create an advisory, brokerage, accounting, or fiduciary relationship between you and Torv. You are responsible for your own decisions.

3. Connected Financial Accounts

You may authorize Torv to access your financial-institution data through our aggregation provider (Quiltt), which connects your accounts via Finicity (a Mastercard company) and MX. Your bank credentials are managed by these providers and never stored by Torv. You can revoke access at any time from inside the app or through our contact form.

When you connect an account, you will be asked to review and accept the terms and privacy notices of these providers, and you authorize them to access, retrieve, and process your financial-institution data to provide the Service. Your use of the connection is also subject to those terms. Account data originates from your financial institutions and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Only connect accounts you own or have permission to access.

Data retrieved through Torv is for personal informational purposes and does not represent the official record of your accounts. We do not sell or commercialize this data.

4. Acceptable Use & Your Responsibility

You agree not to access systems or data you are not authorized to access, scrape or reverse-engineer the Service, resell or redistribute the Service or data obtained through it, or use it in violation of applicable law. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used the Service — for example, connecting an account you did not own or have permission to access, or using the Service in violation of law or these Terms — you agree to cover our reasonable costs of defending and resolving it. This is limited to claims arising from your own conduct; it does not cover claims about how Torv itself works. We will tell you promptly about any such claim, let you take part in the defense, and will not settle in a way that obligates you without your agreement.

5. Subscriptions

Torv is free for your first 13 months, and we don't ask for a card to start. Pricing is shown on our website. If you subscribe, your subscription auto-renews at the end of each billing period unless cancelled; you may cancel at any time and access continues through the end of the paid period. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.

6. No Warranties; Limitation of Liability

This section protects the people behind Torv, not only the company. Where this section says Torv, “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means Torv LLC and also its members, managers, employees, and contractors as individuals. The disclaimers, limits, and carve-outs in this section apply to each of them on the same terms they apply to the company.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access, or the accuracy of data retrieved from third parties or entered by you.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Torv is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims arising from the Service is capped at the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.

These limits don't apply to fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence on our part, or to death or personal injury caused by us. Nothing in these Terms takes away a right you have under the law of your home state that can't be waived by agreement — including consumer-protection rights. If part of this section can't be enforced where you live, the rest still applies.

The disclaimers and liability limits in this section also apply to, and may be relied on by, our aggregation and data providers.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and algorithms, belongs to Torv. Your data is yours — you give us permission to use it to run the Service for you, and nothing else.

8. Termination & Governing Law

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Sections 6 and 7 continue to apply after your account ends.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing anything, contact us through our contact form and give us 30 days to work it out — we'll do the same for you. After that, disputes go to the state or federal courts in Lancaster County, Nebraska, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court, in your county or ours. If the law of your home state gives you the right to sue there, or to have that state's consumer-protection law apply, these Terms don't take that away.

If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
